Artist and Ornithologist

Born: 1853 Kent, England. Died: 1903.

Born in England in 1854, Cayley was noted for his paintings of birds. It was he who, with the well-known British painter, John Gould, helped develop universal interests in the character of Australian birds. His work is represented in New South Wales and Queensland state galleries. He died in 1903. He had a large range of artwork some of his highest auction prices were $4,900. His son Neville William Cayley has continued with his father's artwork of Australian Birds. B - 1886 D - 1950
